Take shit, earn monies

"Take shit, earn monies", this is exactly what is happening in Big Brother. Media is going frenzy unnecessarily. Open any daily, you get loads and loads of writings on racism and Shilpa Shetty. The actress whose career was almost vanishing, suddenly is in news in Britain. Have people become jobless all of a sudden? We all know how shows like Big Brother works. I have seen the desi version "Bigg Boss". No one ever bothered when inmates in Big Boss commented on Rakhi Sawant's upbringing, her clothes, her talking style. The whites comment on Shilpa's cooking, call her a dog and talk about her eating with hands and everyone talks about racist attacks.

Whats wrong with the media and people. We all know that Shilpa Shetty has been given a whopping 3 crore for this drama. For all we care this entire thing must have been scripted. The Shetty babe wept, did she not know the format of the game. Could she not give them a piece of her mind. If someone called you a dog, do u really become that. She has the option of walking out of the game if she wants. Is so much of commotion over a TV show warranted? We really need a life, Big Brother is just a game, there is life after that.

Will Mani's Guru work?

I switch on FM 98.3 and i hear Mayya Mayya... I open some filmy sites i see banners, pictures and video clippings of Maniratnam's Guru. This year's first biggy Guru will hit screens this friday. Maniratnam, this maverick directors films are quite impressive. Will Guru work? Million dollar question. I listened to the songs, Mayya Mayya and Tere Bina were good, Rest were ones that could be forgotten easily.

Saw the promo on a filmy site. Gurukanth Desai is after money, he wants to make it big, hook or crook. Just a couple of minutes ago i read a report which said that Amitabh Bachchan cried seeing his son's performance. Both father-son are moved to tears at each others performance. Mutual tears society, shall we say. Trade pundits say that this film will have Abhishek's best performance. My fingers are crossed for him.

Has Aishwarya forgotten dancing? After seeing that tremendous energy in Dhoom 2, she looks so tired in Guru. She looked gorgeous in umrao Jaan. In Guru she looks like a pucca amma. Abhishek and Aish make a good pair, but thier onscreen chemistry is zero.

Mallika's dance i am sure will entrall all. That Belly dance in Mayya Mayya is great. the verdict will be out tommorow. Lets see if Mani Ratnam's Guru, will be the first hit film of the year.

Retirement and Chiru… Nah!

Chiranjeevi is a good actor. But I feel that more than an good actor he must be a good father. Just yesterday I read a report on how he has been planing his son Ram Charan Teja’s career. In March I read how he saw his daughter’s wedding arrangements amidst such a tight work schedule. Great going Chiru gaaru!

As I read the report about Ram Charan’s launch, what crossed my mind was, "Is retirement in the offing for Chiru?", "Will Ram Charan Teja be successful in taking the reins?", "Will he be a one film wonder, like most of the star kids?" only time will answer these question. I don’t know much about Ram Charan Teja, but I sincerely hope the best for him. With the kind of looks he has I really hope that he becomes a big star some day.

As for Chiru gaaru, he can’t even think of retirement. He has been entertaining us and we all know he has such a great fan following not only in Andhra Pradesh but also around the world. There is so much of his acting that we are yet to see. I hope that some day Chiru and Ram become what Abhishek and Big B are to Bollywood today.

Dasavatharam - Performance Galore

Kollywood is lined up with several releases this year. I am eagerly waiting for Dasavatharam. Its a Kamal film. Who can forget his impeccable performance in Avai Shanmukhi and Indian. It will surely be a treat to watch him. It’s old news that Kamal will be seen in 10 avtaars in this film. The latest buzz doing rounds is that of the 10, two avtaars die as the film progresses.

Sometime back I read that for one for the avtaar it took Kamal three hours to put on make-up. And after the shoot it took another three hours to get it removed. Imagine sitting six hours in all to apply and remove makeup. Mind boggling eh!

Rani gets haughty!

This noon I was watching a news channel. I saw Rani Mukherjee and Konkona answering the scribes in a Press Conference in Varanasi. Rani looked quite agitated and Koko looked relaxed. I was stunned at the way Rani was answering to the questions. She was seething with arrogance and had a why are you guys bothering me look on her face.

These stars are the ones who need media when nothing much is happening in their career. And when the media men ask a couple of questions on their personal life, they fret. What amused me the most was when a reporter asked her about her latest project, Rani said that she does not know the story and the role played by her in it. So why is she in that project if she doesn’t know anything about it?

I don’t know if I am overreacting, but honestly I feel that any actor/ actress has no business scorning media the way Rani did. You come running to us when you want publicity, and cold shoulder us and throw tantrums when we ask you simple question (the question that Rani was asked was nothing too personal). Rani even threatened to boycott the session. If she was not in mood she could have avoided the interaction, rather than souring the entire session.

Mallika Showing off…in style

One thing that Mallika Sherawat is good at is exposing. And she does it with so much sensuality. You can expose and make people have that awful "OH MY GOD" look on their face. But whenever I have seen Men (office or friends), see recent pictures Mallika Sherawat, they have this dreamy look on their faces.

The lady knows to show her stuff and off late she is doing it in style. But when she made an entry into Bollywood, I remember seeing all those pictures over the net. Disgustfull was not the word. Years have passed by and she has changed. Her last release Pyar Ke Side Effects, has once again proved that she is a good actress.

Just look at this picture of hers. You will get what I am trying to tell you faster… with right kind of films in hand and good exposing sense this lady is sure to go places.

Nandi Awards...did the best one win?

I’ve stopped watching awards ceremony long back. Reason is simple and straight. The deserving actor never gets the trophy. I simply don’t understand the criteria on which these awards are given. I read the list of Nandi awards for 2005. It shocked me mildly.

Mahesh Babu got the best actor award. First question. Was his acting really worth the award? For me it was either Shashank or Siddardh. How can one ever sideline Siddardh’s amazing performance in Nuvvastanante Nenoddantana. Also Shashank was simply superb in Anukokunda Oka Roju. Strange are the decisions of the jury.

There is no second thinking about Mahesh’s performance. It was good. I repeat it was good. But definitely not great. Earlier he had won an award for Nizam. He deserved it very much, because his performance was exceptionally good. But Mahesh in Atadu was good, but definitely not a main contender for this award.

Trisha was awarded the best actress. Not happy with this too. Charmy was the rightful one. My reason being that Nuvvastanante Nenoddantana was Siddardh’s film. Trisha has nothing much to do post interval. Whereas AOR was all in all Charmy’s film. I had this feeling that to compensate Siddardh’s loss the award was given to Trisha as she was a part of Nuvvastanante Nenoddantana.

Whatever be the final verdict, let’s remember one thing jury could be judging under pressure, but the audiences aren’t. I really hope that these stars won’t get bogged down by the jury’s decision and will give us excellent films in coming years.
